3a. SMS Text Messaging

Sonic Car Rental offers an optional SMS (text message) program to communicate with customers about their reservations. Participation is entirely voluntary and is not a condition of any purchase.

Opt-In: You may opt in to receive SMS messages by checking the consent box on our booking form at sonicrentalcar.com during the reservation process. By opting in, you consent to receive SMS text messages from Sonic Car Rental at the mobile phone number you provide, including:

  • Reservation confirmations and details
  • Pickup and return reminders
  • Pickup instructions and shuttle information
  • Customer service replies

Message Frequency: Message frequency varies based on your reservation activity. Typical customers receive 2–6 messages per rental. Message and data rates may apply — charges depend on your mobile carrier plan.

Opt-Out: You may opt out at any time by replying STOP to any SMS message we send. After you reply STOP you will receive a final confirmation message and no further texts. To re-subscribe, reply START or YES.

Carrier disclaimer: Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. We do not share or sell your phone number or SMS consent data to third parties or affiliates for marketing purposes. The SMS service is delivered via Twilio, our messaging provider.

4. Information Sharing

We may share your personal information with the following parties, strictly for the purposes of completing and managing your rental:

  • Business partners and affiliates within the Sonic Rental Group (America Car Rental, Flex To Go, Advantage Car Rental)
  • Payment processors and financial institutions (Stripe, credit card networks) for payment processing

  • Online travel agencies (OTAs) through which you may have booked
