Policies

Please review the following terms and conditions before completing your reservation.

Mileage Limitations and Cost+

Our vehicles cannot be driven outside the State of Florida. Any customer who does not comply with this condition will be charged a flat fee of $2,000 USD.

Florida residents are allowed 50 miles per day, in case of extra miles the company will charge a fee of $0.99 per mile.

Rental Requirements+

Minimum age is 21 years old and maximum is 75 years old.

Credit Card personalized with the cardholder's full name.

Identification (Passport with photo in the case of foreign customers).

Valid driver License or international license. The license has to be in English and Latin Letters. Digital driver's license is not accepted.

A young driver fee applies to drivers under the age of 25.

A senior driver fee applies to drivers over the age of 70.

The driver license must have been issued by authorized authorities at least 1 year(s) before the date of the commencement of the rental.

In addition to the regular driver license, an International Driving Permit is also mandatory. Please note that the International Driving Permit is valid only if accompanied by the regular driver license.

In order to pick up the car, the following documents are required: passport, valid driver license, credit card on a main drivers name, booking and voucher.

The payment methods accepted for the payment of the rent are credit, debit cards (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover Card) and cash.

Tolls and Fines+

E-Toll is not mandatory, however, all of the rental cars are equipped with a SunPass/e-toll transponder that is glued to the windshield of the car and is not removable.

An E-Toll is offered in order to avoid violation fees.

E-Toll/Sunpass activation fee is $14.99 USD per day.

Prepaid tolls are available for $19.99 USD per day.

If the customer declines Toll pass / E-toll device, a penalty of $30 USD for each toll used in addition to the cost for each unpaid toll will apply.

If the customer removes Toll pass / E-toll device from the car, an additional penalty of $250 USD will apply.

Please note, that it is difficult to avoid Toll Roads while driving in Florida State, so it is highly recommended to activate Toll Device offered by provider in order to avoid violation charges (up to the full amount of security deposit). Note that it is not possible to use personal Toll device or pay on spot.

Additional Responsibilities and Protections+

SLI (Supplemental Liability Insurance)

Increases the amount for civil liability. Price per day $39.99. Deductible of $1,000.

TPL (Third Party Liability)

Civil liability for damages caused to third parties in their property or persons. Price per day $29.99. This coverage is offered only for foreign clients, not for national clients.

CDW (Collision Damage Waiver)

This coverage is optional and releases the client from the responsibility of having to pay for damages caused to the rented vehicle with a deductible depending on the category. Price per day $29.99. Coverage of up to $20,000 in damages with a deductible of $2,500 USD.

IMPORTANT:

The deductible is normally $1,000, upon hiring the CDW reduces the security deposit to $300 USD. The client can use his credit card insurance in case of any damage to the vehicle, the renter will have to pay the damages at the time of return and will be provided with all the necessary documentation to file a claim to his credit card.

The following insurance type(s) Supplemental Liability Insurance (SLI), Collision Damage Waiver (CDW), Third Party Liability (TPL) is (are) not included for residents of Canada, Puerto Rico, USA.

In order to use the renter's own insurance, he/she must provide proof of TPL and CDW coverage in his/her own name, issued by one of the following companies: State Farm, Liberty Mutual, Geico, All State, Infinit, insurance is accepted only if issued in the following country(ies): USA.

Renter must provide a proof of own insurance. Acceptable proof of insurance must include insurance declaration page, liability insurance (SLI) with not less than 500,000 USD liability limit, Property Damage Liability (PDL) coverage with a limit of at least 500,000 USD.

If using own insurance, renter must provide an insurance ID card with the exact coverage shown and the same name and address as on the driver license. (Insurance from outside the US is not accepted.)

In case the customer does not have one of the insurances, mentioned above, the customer will need to purchase insurance at the counter.

The Surcharge, FL Waste Tire/Battery Fee, Customer Facility Charge, Priv Fee Recovery CHG 10 PCT, VLF REC, must be paid over the counter, these charges are added by the company and the company will indicate when they need to be paid.

Additional Drivers+

A maximum of 2 additional drivers may be added to the rental contract at a cost of $14.99 USD per day per driver.

Each additional driver must comply with the same rental requirements as the primary renter (valid driver license, identification, and minimum age).

Only drivers authorized at the time of contract signing are permitted to operate the vehicle. Additional drivers can be added during the rental period at any of our locations.

Gas+

The customer must return the vehicle with the same level of gasoline with which it was picked up. In case of returning less than the amount received, an administrative fee of $25.00 plus $9.00 per gallon will be charged.

Vehicles use different types of fuel depending on the engine. The tank lid specifies whether it is regular gasoline, premium, or diesel. Please use the correct fuel type.

Return of the Vehicle+

The customer is responsible for returning the vehicle in the same condition it was provided — clean, free of damage, and fully functional. Any damage not documented at pickup will be charged to the renter.

Rental rates are calculated based on 24-hour periods. Extra hours or extra days will result in additional charges.

We recommend returning the vehicle at least 1.5 hours before domestic flights and 2.5 hours before international flights.

If the customer does not contact us within 3 days after the agreed return date regarding the vehicle status and location, the company reserves the right to report it to the authorities.

Reservations Policies+

The company honors all reservations that meet the rental requirements. The company reserves the right to decline reservations with inaccurate, altered, or false information.

Reservations are based on the CATEGORY of vehicles, not specific models. Images of the vehicles advertised are only illustrative. The reserved category is guaranteed, but the specific vehicle may vary based on current availability.

We honor reservations up to two hours from the scheduled pickup time when the customer provides flight information. Our representatives will monitor flight status and await your arrival.

Without flight data, after two hours the reservation may be treated as a no-show depending on vehicle availability.

Drop Off in Other Locations+

The vehicle can be returned at any of our Florida locations: Orlando (MCO), Miami (MIA), Fort Lauderdale (FLL), and Tampa (TPA).

One-way rentals between our locations may be subject to a drop-off fee depending on the locations involved. Please confirm at the time of booking.

Cancellation of Reservations+

Reservations may be cancelled or modified free of charge up to 48 hours before the scheduled pickup time.

To cancel or modify your reservation, contact us by phone at (321) 364-3351, by WhatsApp at the same number, or through our website.

No-show reservations (failure to arrive within two hours of scheduled pickup without prior notification) may not be honored, depending on vehicle availability.

Accidents and Incidents+

You must report any accident or incident immediately to Sonic Car Rental at (321) 364-3351 with your contract number, vehicle plates, and location. Remain at the scene.

It is the unavoidable responsibility of the contract holder to report directly and immediately about any incident or accident. Failure to report may result in automatic coverage decline.

Coverage may be declined when the driver is under the influence of alcoholic beverages, narcotics, hallucinogens, or any type of toxic substances, or through negligence or contract violations.

Guarantee Deposit+

A security deposit starting at $500 USD will be blocked (pre-authorized) on your credit card at the time of pickup. The amount varies according to the vehicle category requested.

For security reasons, cash deposits are not accepted. Only credit card pre-authorizations are accepted for the security deposit.

The deductible is normally $1,000. Upon hiring the CDW, the security deposit is reduced to $300 USD.

The security deposit will be released after the vehicle is returned in the same condition. Please allow 5 to 7 business days for your bank to process the release.

Payment Ways+

We accept the following payment methods: credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover Card), debit cards, and cash.

The credit card must be personalized with the cardholder's full name and must match the name on the rental contract.

No payment is required at the time of online reservation. Payment is processed at the counter during pickup.

Road Assistance+

Sonic Car Rental offers roadside assistance to all customers at no additional cost when mechanical issues result from normal vehicle use (not negligence).

In case of a flat tire, contact us immediately within 30 minutes at (321) 364-3351 or via WhatsApp. Remain at the scene. If you do not have roadside assistance coverage, additional costs will apply.

If you left the keys inside the vehicle, report immediately. Remain at the scene. Locksmith costs may apply. Attempting to open the vehicle yourself and causing damage is considered negligence and will be billed in full.

If the car ran out of gas, fuel supply will be provided and charged per company rates.
